Scoops of Creativity: Logo Concepts for Underground Pops

Overview

The client embarked on a journey to explore the idea of opening an ice cream shop and sought a concept package to envision the potential. This package included a range of logo designs and a proposal package explaining the design concepts.

Goals & Objectives

  • Provide the client with a compelling vision for the future of their ice cream shop venture.
  • Create a distinctive logo that sets Underground Pops apart from competitors.
  • Design a variety of logo options to offer the client flexibility and choice.
  • Ensure brand scalability for potential future growth
  • Capture the essence of fun and excitement associated with ice cream
  • Ensure brand versatility for various marketing materials and applications

Design Process

Given the early stage of the client’s business idea, they desired a fun logo with emphasis on “pops” and were open to a badge-style design. The requested color scheme included navy blue and an orange sorbet-like hue.

Brainstorming & Sketching

Following the consultation, a variety of concepts were explored through brainstorming and sketching, incorporating elements such as gelato or popsicles as the main graphic.

Vectorization

From my sketches, I selected the most promising concepts and then transformed these ideas into digital drafts through vectorization.

Feedback & Revision

Seeking validation from the client, I presented my designs for feedback. After a few phone calls and back and forth messaged, I refined the logo that resonated most with the client.

Iteration & Finalize

Although the client wasn’t required to select a logo design at that stage, given the nature of the concept package, they expressed a preference for this particular design. It resonated with their vision and stood out to them among the options presented.

Concept Proposal

In response to the client’s request for a comprehensive proposal package, I curated a document showcasing various logo variations, accompanied by explanations for each design. Additionally, the proposal included documentation outlining the next steps for the client when they are ready to progress further with their project.

Despite initial challenges stemming from limited direction and time constraints, the project resulted in a successful logo design. The client expressed satisfaction with the options provided, reflecting their excitement for the potential of their ice cream shop venture.

The project highlighted the importance of creative thinking and adaptability in responding to limited information. Moving forward, implementing measures such as watermarks for proposal designs can help protect intellectual property. Additionally, seeking more comprehensive client input upfront can enhance the design process and lead to even stronger outcomes.
